Lubbock, Texas has been fortunate enough to have had several visits from the band Metallica. Before we get through "Maytallica", let's celebrate with some videos pictures from thier visits.

I remember when Metallica booked Lubbock last time. It was well over a year before the concert date that the show was announced. The date of the actual show was May 2nd, 2019. It's crazy how fast (nearly) six years flies by.

According to the Metallica website, this was the bands 4th visit to the city. I know I went to at least three, the Snakepit show, the one with Godsmack as an opener and the 2019 show. The last two visits were at United Supermarkets Arena and both featured some amazing stage production and pyro. Also, it was the first time that Sully sang "Sad But True" live with the band. Here's some practice footage of that duet:

I'd like to think that we had a special relationship with Metallica, but the truth is that they just have a quality organization that buttons things up wherever they go. We were in fact consulted on what should be on the commemorative guitar pics they threw out and allowed some time on the stage.

Two other bits of Metallica trivia for you. Lars actually visited the current FMX control room for a visit during that tour . Also FMX arranged for the only drive-in showing anywhere of the "Some Kind Of Monster" documentary. I will say that listeners were a bit shocked when that documentary turned out to be more talking than rocking.
