Nightmare On 19th Street is celebrating its 20th year, and here’s what you need to know before you go.

Nightmare On 19th Street has become a hallmark event for Lubbock. Not only is it tremendously popular with local residents, it has also become a tourist destination and an award-winning stop in the haunted attraction industry.

Nightmare was recently named “One Of The Top 10 Must-See Haunts In Texas” by ScareFactor, and that’s kind of a big deal. The park has also received four out of four stars from Hauntmaster General and has previously been awarded the number-one overall spot by Scurryface.

But let’s bring this back home. How can we save you some time, trouble and even money? Here we go.

  • Check the calendar before you go. The park opens on a Saturday, then adds Fridays, Thursdays and Sundays as the season progresses.
  • Know the box office hours. The box office is open from 7:30–11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 7:30–10:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays. If you buy a ticket during those hours, you’ll still be able to experience all four attractions.
  • Online ticket sales cut off earlier. That doesn’t mean the park is sold out. Tickets are still available in person at the box office during the hours listed above.
  • Save by paying cash. You can avoid credit card processing fees by paying cash at the box office.
  • V.I.P. is available. V.I.P. takes you to a much shorter, and sometimes nonexistent, line. It all depends on demand, but it speeds things up a lot on a busy night.
  • The Attractions open around 8.  This generally gets earlier and earlier as the season progresses because it gets darker earlier and earlier.
  • Yes, it’s scary. Of course, scary is relative, but the park is officially recommended for ages 12 and older.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. It’s approximately 1.25 miles from the entrance of the first attraction to the exit of the final attraction. That does not include the time or distance spent waiting in lines.
  • Stick around for Mayhem Midway. There’s food, plenty of photo opportunities, souvenirs and spooky crafts available before or after the attractions.
  • The actors do not intentionally grab or touch you. It is close quarters, however, so you may accidentally bump into a creature along the way.
  • Expect strobe lights and fog machines. Both are used throughout the attractions.
  • Keep Your Phone In Your Pocket. This goes two ways. #1. No photography is allowed inside the attractions, and #2. If you drop or lose your phone we cannot stop the attraction to look for it (this happens far more often than you'd think).
  • No alcohol is served. Drinking before visiting is also discouraged.
  • Enter At Your Own Risk: Expect darkness, loud noises, strobe lights, sudden scares and some uneven or semi-rugged terrain along the way. Wear good shoes and watch your step.
