At around 7:03 p.m. Tuesday night, police responded to a major crash on West Loop 289 near 50th Street that left one dead and multiple injured.

According to KAMC News, a 2018 Ford Expedition was pulling a utility trailer south on the loop and stopped in the outside lane to inspect the trailer connection. A family member, driving a 2011 Chevy Silverado, stopped behind them.

The driver of the Expedition, 56-year-old Suzan Headrick, was inspecting the connection when an LP&L bucket truck that was traveling in the same lane struck the Silverado and pushed it into the trailer. Headrick was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three passengers in the Expedition received moderate injuries and were taken to UMC. The driver and passenger of the Silverado also suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the LP&L truck suffered minor injuries.

LP&L said this in a statement:

Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L) is aware of the vehicle collision that took place earlier this evening involving an LP&L service vehicle on West Loop 289. LP&L is working with the Lubbock Police Department as it performs its investigation.
