Lubbock Family Struck During Police Chase Needs Community Support
Imagine this: you've finally allowed yourself the joy of purchasing a new car. Then, two weeks into owning it, you are struck by a vehicle going far beyond the speed limit, because police are chasing the suspects inside. Now, you are upside down on a car that's been completely destroyed, and you and your grandchild are bruised and battered from the impact.

Lubbock Police Chase Ends in an Innocent Civilian's Car Being Destroyed
On October 21st, 2025, Tammy and Caden Mayfield were in Tammy's new vehicle when they were hit head-on by suspects fleeing the police in an allegedly stolen vehicle.
The crash left them both with severe bruising, pain, and emotional trauma, and completely totaled their car, a vehicle Tammy had only purchased two weeks earlier.
And although Tammy was responsible and had full coverage insurance, the payout is not enough to cover a rental or cover the full value of the car, meaning she still owes money for a car that is destroyed due to another person's criminal and reckless actions.

I saw the photos of the innocent person's vehicle and hoped and prayed they were okay, not knowing they were the mother and nephew of one of my best and oldest friends. I am heartbroken that this happened to them, but very grateful they are alive.
How We Can Help
The Mayfields have a GoFundMe fundraiser to help Tammy pay off her vehicle so she can purchase another one. They are seeking a modest amount, and I believe the Lubbock community can help them out of this jam that, again, was absolutely not their fault whatsoever.
To donate any amount (even a little adds up quickly!) click here.
We are wishing Tammy and Cayden a quick physical and emotional recovery.
