The Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe restaurant in Lubbock has permanently closed as part of broader changes at the regional Cajun dining chain amid its Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. The closure comes weeks after the parent company filed for bankruptcy and arranged a sale of its assets.

Razzoo's is marked "permanently closed" on Google. I reached out to Razzoo's on both Facebook and through email and never received a response.

The Lubbock location did not carry over in the bankruptcy sale, and the lease was not included in the acquisition of the chain’s assets by Dallas-based M Crowd Restaurant Group. As a result, the restaurant will not reopen under new ownership.

Bankruptcy Filing and Business Pressures

The Razzoo’s chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October 2025, citing a combination of economic and competitive pressures. Court filings revealed that the company faced declining sales and rising competition from value-oriented national brands, along with the broader impacts of inflation, changing customer habits, and logistical issues such as crawfish supply challenges.

Sale to M Crowd Restaurant Group

In late December 2025, Dallas-based hospitality company M Crowd Restaurant Group, the operator behind popular Tex-Mex concept Mi Cocina, emerged as the winning bidder for Razzoo’s remaining operating assets through a court-supervised sale.

While the sale may preserve part of the Razzoo’s business, the Lubbock location was excluded from the deal, making it unlikely that the Razzoo's in Lubbock will reopen anytime soon, if ever.

What To Try Instead In Lubbock

Lubbock has other great options for Cajun food and fried seafood. Jazz (3703 19th St) has been a Lubbock staple for decades, offering excellent Cajun and fried seafood entrees, along with a lively drink menu (watch those Hurricanes, they'll sneak up on you!) Other places to try include: Hot & Juicy (particularly for the seafood boils), Gator's Bayou, Hook & Reel, The Catch, Crawdaddy's, and Walk Ons.

Just want fried fish/ seafood?  Try Bucket of Love, River Smiths, Sam's Southern Eatery, or Dimbas (when they reopen soon).

Where to Experience Lubbock's Signature Cocktail, The Chilton

Lubbock's signature cocktail is the crisp and refreshing Chilton. Vodka, freshly squeezed lemon juice, soda water, and salt combine together to make a cocktail as electric as a West Texas thunderstorm. Here are some bars and restaurants to try this Lubbock original.
