Some People Are Too Dumb To Understand Self-Checkout

Get ready as we pull apart another dumb meme.

The self-entitlement of some people is just too much for me. I've broached this topic once before, but this meme is coming back STRONG, so I thought we'd deal with it again. Let's have a look, then roast it:

DEAR *******, **** *****AND ALL OTHER STORES THAT HAVE SELF CHECKOUT!

You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkout now.
Yesterday I was at ***** , the lady checking receipts at the exit was stopping everyone.
I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already filled my cart, emptied my cart and scanned the items, refilled my cart and so I just skipped the exit line and left.
I heard her saying "umm - Excuse me “ as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.
• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.
• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.
• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.
YOU DON'T PAY ME TO SCAN MY OWN SHOPPING.
YOU DON’T GIVE ME STAFF DISCOUNT FOR WORKING FOR YOU.

Okay, now let's chat a bit. I'd like to start with "You don't pay me/I'm doing your job/You don't give me a staff discount" nonsense. One of the reasons stores have self-checkout is to keep down costs, so yes, if you are saving money, then you're kind of "being paid" now aren't you? Having one person to check receipts still makes the process quicker (at least until some idiot in front of you is being a pain in the butt about it and/or didn't check out everything properly).

Let's also say that yes, you did "choose to participate in that nonsense" by patronizing the store. Are you so dumb that you keep going back to the same store where you know this is happening over and over? Let me say this one more time, if you go to a store where they check receipts, you can expect that they'll check your receipts.

Lastly, this isn't from "All of us". In fact, most of us are smart enough to know how this works, how to make a choice when shopping, and that the receipt checker is just doing their job so there's no reason to make their job harder.

I personally shop at a store that has great checkout and carry-out service, and I also appreciate that they have convenient self-service for when I just have an item or two. If you insist on having someone wait on you, get a butler.

And I have one recommendation for the stores that are targeted with this nonsense. Either add a surcharge for lines with checkers, or discounts for the self-checkouts. It's the only way some of these lug-heads will ever understand.
