We are getting close to this year's Big Purple Party, and a band playing the show that you might not know (but should!) is Sons of Texas.

Lead guitarist Jes DeHoyos took some time to call in to The Midday Meltdown and talk about the show and a subject near and dear to my heart: drinking.

Hailing from McAllen, Texas, Sons of Texas was formed in 2013. In that short time, the boys have been doing some serious work on the road. And at the bar, too.

When I asked Jes about the band having some drinks with fans before shows, he admitted it sometimes gets pretty crazy.

"We've gotten into trouble a few times," he told me. "People would be like 'hey man, let's have a beer!' Everybody wants to drink with you. People buying you shots, buying you beers. Before you know it, you start to feel dizzy and you're like, 'whoa, I better stop.'"

Jes added that it's "pretty awesome" that their fans want to hang out and drink with them, but they have to be careful due to some long drives to other shows.

As for those coming down to the Big Purple Party this year and not knowing what to expect from Sons of Texas, DeHoyos had a simple answer.

"We give 110 percent. We go full force," he said.

I am very stoked to get to see them live and can't wait to see what they have in store for us at the Big Purple Party, Tuesday, May 26 at the Lonestar Amphitheater.
