Texas Pastor Booked On Child Sex Abuse Charges
A Texas pastor was booked in Oklahoma on child sex abuse charges.
Texas Pastor Accused Of Heinous Acts
The founder of the Gateway Church in Southlake, near Fort Worth, has been booked and released, accused of sexual abuse of a minor. At this point, it's a little hard to contain the rage I'm feeling at how long it took for him to be charged, and how easy it was for him to get out. I will try to remember that everyone is considered innocent until found guilty.
Texas Pastor Spends 14 Minutes In Jail For Child Abuse Charges
Robert Morris was booked into an Oklahoma jail and spent an entire 14 minutes in there before being released on $50,000 bond. If there is any upside to this tiny slap on the wrist, it's that he was ordered to surrender his passport. He is being charged with five counts of "lewd or indecent acts with a child". His is accused of abusing a 12-year-old over the course of four years in 1982 while staying with the child's family.

Texas Church Has Had Controversies Before
The Gateway church was the 9th largest church when this scandal broke last year. This was not the first time Gateway had controversy either. In 2024 the church settled a suit claiming five pastors helped conceal child abuse by a youth minister. In 2025 a youth pastor was arrested for child abuse. This church is enormous, but there just seems to be something wrong within the walls of this organization.
The Church Tried Siding With A Possible Child Abuser
The church tried stepping up to the plate for Pastor Morris claiming he has "walked in purity" for 35 years and that there had been "no moral failings" since that time. At least to an outsider like myself, it makes the church seem even more complicit in harboring a possible child molester, even though the incident happened before the founding on the church. He will face a judge for the first time on May 9th. He could get 20 years for each of the five counts, for a total of 100 years. If found guilty, 100 years may not be enough.
