Standoff in Lubbock County Ends After SWAT Team Responds to Man With Gun
Reports of an agitated man with a gun brought the Lubbock Sheriff's Office SWAT Team out to a home near FM 179 south of CR 7310 Saturday afternoon.

Delbert Wayne Carter Jr. has been charged with four offenses in connection with Saturday's standoff on FM 179, just about a mile south of Wolfforth.
Carter has been charged with Attempted Capital Murder of a Peace Officer, two counts of Aggravated Assault and Theft of a Firearm. All of the charges against Carter are felonies.

The man, Delbert Wayne Carter Jr., barricaded himself in his residence after a domestic disturbance was called into the Lubbock Sheriff's Office. He brandished a firearm multiple times while being confronted by Sheriff's Deputies. After a three-hour standoff, Carter surrendered.
The Sheriff's Department explosives experts worked their way through Carter's residence to search for possible explosives after the standoff ended.
Carter has a "lengthy" criminal record, according to Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe.
Barricades were in effect until about 8pm Saturday evening at FM 179 and FM 1585 & FM 179 and CR 7310 while the search for explosives occurred at Carter's residence.
Over 30 nearby residents were evacuated from their homes during the standoff. People also parked their vehicles along FM 1585 and north of FM 179 and CR 7310 as they waited for that section of FM 179 to be reopened. No injuries were reported.
According to the Lubbock County Jail booking sheet, Carter is 59 years old, born on October 28, 1955. Charges are still pending against him.
