What To Do?

When the power goes out, generally the first thought through your head is, "Is it just me?". I don't know why most of us assumer we've done something wrong, but it's somehow a little more comforting to know you're not the only one is who having a problem. Knowing where to hit up the trackers can be great information so you don't use up a bunch of your phones battery while you try to figure out what's going on.

Your Provider

Where most people make a mistake in trying to track power outages is that they look to thier provider for answers. After all, they "provide" the electricity, right? Actually they provide the services, the electricity is still delivered by Lubbock Power & Light and Oncor Electric Delivery. This means for most, if not all people, all you have to do is track the power outages where you already did (assuming you did).

The Trackers

Lubbock Power & Light has outage maps on a page here. If you have service with Oncor, you can check out information here. All of that is great for (mostly) timely information about outages. If you are looking for something statewide, perhaps for a friend that is out of town or a relative you want to check on, you can check in with the Texas Power Outage Tracker.

Get Ahead Of The Problem

It's also recommended that you be proactive and consider the Smart 911 app for emergency alerts, including power outage information. Lubbock Alert is also very handy and can be downloaded here.
