The other day, I spotted a car in Lubbock that was decked out in Christmas lights. It's hard to hate on anyone enjoying the holiday with some festive lighting, but how illegal is it?

According to the Austin Police Department, it's not illegal, but you might want to take a look at the guidelines before you slap a bunch of lights on your ride.

Flashing lights of any kind are not allowed, and the lights you decorate your car with cannot obstruct the view of your license plate, or cover the windows, turn signals, brake lights, etc.

I can't say whether or not the car I caught on video the other day violated any of the rules because I just wasn't close enough to be able to tell, but, it does look like they left the windows uncovered and you still have a clear view of the vehicle. I imagine this car owner puts lights on their vehicle every year and is probably pretty familiar with the rules.
