Suspect Takes $1,000 Down Payment For Car And Is Never Heard From Again
On Friday, October 29th, a Lubbock man claimed that his $1,000 down payment for a vehicle was stolen.
KAMC News reports that earlier in the week, October 24th, the unnamed victim began talking with the suspect on Facebook. The suspect, whose name hasn't been released, was apparently selling a Honda.
The suspect arrived at the victim's home so that the 2 could agree on a price. The suspect even provided documents on the car and a picture of the vehicle's title.
The 2 eventually agreed on a price, and the victim gave the suspect a $1,000 down payment in cash. After this, the suspect said that he would bring the Honda once he gathered the documentation.
That was the last the victim ever heard from the suspect.
The victim tried multiple times to contact them, but they were unable to.
When the victim made the report to the Lubbock Police Department, he brought the documentation that the suspect provided, but an officer found that the driver's license number was fake, and that the vehicle didn't belong to the suspect at all.
No further details were given in relation to this case.
