Note: 900 S Houston is not the location of a prison. It's the Forrest Park Community Center. Bring your ID and social and be ready to be interviewed.

Unlike many jobs which have arbitrary rates of pay determined by whether your boss likes you or not, a Correction Officer's pay follows a schedule based on length of service. You can view it here; everyone starts at over $21/hr!

Also note: if you are a veteran who served for at least two years and was honorably discharged and/or if you have earned an associate's or bachelor's degree, you start as a level IV officer, which is $23-$25/ hr depending on the prison type.

Requirements:

You must be 18 or older with a high school diploma or a GED. You cannot have been dishonorably discharged from the military or have had a felony. You cannot be a CO if you have been convicted of domestic violence. You cannot be on probation or have a warrant. You must be able to pass a drug test and a physical agility test.
