I can usually get behind a survey if the metrics are on point. I'm going to say something feels a little off with this one.
A recent survey by Innerbody claims strawberry is the most popular ice cream flavor in Texas. They reached that conclusion using search data, and that's where I think things start to melt.
Texans Don't Google Blue Bell—They Just Buy It
First off, the most popular ice cream in Texas is Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla. You can tie me to a chair and waterboard me, and you'll never convince me otherwise. If the best-selling ice cream in Texas is Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla, then it stands to reason that vanilla is the state's favorite flavor. This isn't a knock on strawberry—it's delicious—but Texans have been keeping a half gallon of Homemade Vanilla in the freezer for generations.
The survey also says Texas has the eighth-lowest interest in ice cream because we're not searching for it as much online. To me, that actually proves the opposite point. We already know what we like. We don't spend time Googling ice cream flavors—we just head to the freezer section and grab the Blue Bell.

Here's the part that really made me laugh. The same survey also ranked the most popular ice cream brand in every state... and Texas picked Blue Bell. Exactly. While the data nerds are busy counting search terms, Texans are doing what Texans have always done: grabbing an honest half gallon of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla and calling it a good day.
