Texas House In Which Routier Children Were Murdered Sold For Over $400K In 2023
Texas law does not require a seller to disclose any death that occurred on the property, save for deaths that were caused by the property, like a roof collapse. Even if the house is the site of one of the most harrowing and heart-breaking crimes in Texas history.
Did the people who purchased this home in Rowlett, Texas know its dark past? Or perhaps a better question would be: how could they not?
The murder of the Routier children is one of the most discussed, analyzed and dissected crimes in Texas history, as their mother Darlie was convicted of the crime. However, even on death row, Darlie maintains her innocence as she always has. Many crime shows have looked and re-looked into the case, and I find myself not entirely sure that Darlie committed the crime after all.
Was Darlie the victim of the media frenzy around her case? Was she simply a misunderstood victim or a complete monster?
Would it be better to believe that Darlie did it, or that she is innocent if you lived in the house where her two boys bled to death?
I am not judging the person who purchased this house, whoever they may be. A beautiful home at a great price is a big part of the American Dream. If you don't believe in ghosts, or that the miasma of evil can hang around a place, then what difference does it make? Unless you live in new construction, the chance someone died on the property you live on is high. I know a man died in my apartment, and he doesn't bother me.
If you are an evidence junkie like me, you can compare crime scene photographs (bloody, gruesome, not safe for work) of this home with the photos included in the listing (below) for this property. You might be surprised how much hasn't changed in the years after this crime. But, for all we know the new owners have completely transformed the interior since they moved in.
Even after the worst things happen, the world keeps turning, and life goes on. Unless you are Darlie Routier, who is simply sitting idly on death row, awaiting what is likely the inevitable.
