Texas May Not Be The Place To Live If You Want To Stay Married
I think most people at least intend to live up to the "Until Death Do Us Part" of thier wedding vows, even though it often doesn't work out that way.
It's Tough
There are innumerable strains that can be placed on a marriage. Sometimes finances go bad and that's the spark that causes a marriage to flame out. Sometimes people get board, others cheat, and some people just grow apart and find that they have different goals and interests than the ones they got married with.
Why?
Who really knows why one place has more divorces than the other? Heck, I would think that Nevada would be a far and away winner with Las Vegas contributing to so much "sinnin'". Unfortunately, Nevada only comes in #4 on this list with Texas taking the #3 spot for the "Places With The Shortest Marriages".
Age Doesn't Matter
The interesting thing to me about this information is that it says that the median age for people to get married in Texas is about 28 and just shy of a half. You would think that a certain maturity would kick in around that age and there would be less breakups. That is actually not a factor at all, with the #2 and #1 states actually having a HIGHER median age than that.
How Long?
So how long is the average marriage in Texas? As of this 2023 survey people can expect a run of about 17.6 years. If you find that stat sad, then get ready for this, over 66% of people in Texas have never been married at all.
Who Beat Texas?
So which places were worst for marriage than Texas? Those spots go to #2 Alaska and #1 to Washington, D.C.
