A week ago, Texas Tech lost to Oklahoma State in overtime and slipped to 1-2 in the Big 12. Fan pages and social media were abuzz about how overrated the Red Raiders were and how the team might as well pack it in because they might not even make the tournament.

Forget the fact that one of the losses was in overtime and the other one was to Kansas and the Red Raiders had a chance to win it at the end.

Fast forward seven days, and the Red Raiders have won two straight, including Saturday's 91-64 blasting of Iowa State. Sure, the Cyclones haven't won a game yet in the Big 12, but they've been competitive...until today.

Kevin McCullar recorded his first Red Raider double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Kyler Edwards scored 19 and Mac McClung dropped 18 to help lead the no. 18-ranked Red Raiders to the dominant win in Ames, Iowa.

The 27-point win was the Red Raiders' third Big 12 victory, which was much needed heading into a back-to-back mini-gauntlet with Texas and Baylor looming on the schedule. Both of those teams are 4-0 in conference play and in the top 5 of the NCAA.

Back to today's game, Texas Tech stretched their winning streak over the Cyclones to four straight games. The Red Raiders only turned the ball over once in a near-perfect first half. They were also 18-for-21 from the free-throw line, which has been a struggle at times this season.

"Road wins are something you always remember," Texas Tech coach Chris Beard said. "Tonight we had some awesome individual performances. There was a lot of unselfishness out there tonight. It was a great road trip for our team as they continue to come together as a team and roles continue getting defined."

The Texas Longhorns will host the Red Raiders Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 in Austin with an 8 p.m. tip-off.
