According to multiple sources, the St. John's Red Storm will not be coming to Lubbock to play the Red Raiders on Thursday. Out of an abundance of caution and enjoying their time in the bubble they've been playing in, the Red Storm will stay put and play BYU instead.

St. John's themselves confirmed the news.

The Red Raiders also confirmed the news via a statement:

The Big 12/BIG EAST Battle matchup between Texas Tech and St. John’s has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns from St. John’s University. The Red Storm administration announced its decision on Monday to cancel the game which was scheduled to be played on Thursday at the United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock.

A complete rundown of ticketing options will be emailed to individuals who purchased tickets for the St. John’s game. The Texas Tech basketball program is currently working to schedule a replacement game.

There was a potential matchup with Notre Dame that was available but the Fighting Irish just added a game with Purdue for December the fifth. The Red Raiders are most definitely looking into options but for now, the Red Raiders are now off until Sunday the 6th when they play Grambling State at the United Supermarkets Arena, but according to the last sentence of the statement, they are definitely trying to make up the game.

The ideal solution will be trying to find a Power-5 opponent to replace St. John's or at least another opponent on the level of the Red Storm.
