The Red Raiders started the 2019 season at 13th in the AP Poll, and have already started the climb toward the top 10.

In the Associated Press' Week 1 top 25 poll, Texas Tech came in at number 11.

I'd say that preseason rankings don't matter, but they certainly do. If you start at the top, it's a lot easier to end at the top, especially when you can stack wins early in the season.

Texas Tech handled both of their first two opponents easily at home as they should have in the opening week of the season.

Elsewhere in the Big 12, Kansas drops from 3rd to 5th after losing to Duke, and Baylor dropped from 16th to 24th after a loss to Washington.

Texas is the only Big 12 team in the receiving votes category after getting a big win against a ranked Purdue team.
