Texas Tech’s Early Bowl Game Projection: The Pop-Tarts Bowl?
Using some formula far beyond my comprehension, a postseason fate for the Texas Tech Red Raiders has already been predicted — even though there’s still plenty of football left to play.
📊 Predicting the Future (Too Soon?)
As of this writing, the Red Raiders still have five games remaining in their regular season. Yet, that hasn’t stopped college football analysts from trying to crystal-ball their way into bowl season. It’s a bold move, considering how unpredictable Tech’s season has been so far. After all, college football can flip faster than a bad officiating call in overtime.
😬 The Arizona State Setback
Tech’s recent loss to Arizona State was a gut punch. Watching Sun Devil fans storm the field said everything about how much that win meant to them — and how much it stung for us. It’s an embarrassing moment, sure, but one we’ve also handed out to visiting teams at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. College football karma, perhaps.
🎉 The Predicted Bowl: Pop-Tarts Bowl vs. Louisville
According to USA Today, the Red Raiders are currently projected to face Louisville in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on December 27th. Not bad at all — last year’s matchup featured Iowa State vs. Miami, and the year before that, Kansas State vs. NC State. It’s not the College Football Playoff, but it’s a respectable bowl that feels like a small step up in prestige (FYI: It used to be The Blockbuster Bowl).
🌴 Orlando Awaits
The Pop-Tarts Bowl is played in Orlando, Florida, which means there’s plenty to do if fans decide to make the trip. Between Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, this could turn into more than just a football trip — it’s practically a mini-vacation.

Of course, all of this is very premature. But for a fan base hungry for good news, even a speculative bowl prediction gives us something fun to look forward to this winter.
