Texas Update: New Laws For 2025 That You Need To Know About
Texas residents have some new laws that they should be aware of.
The Three Big Laws in Texas
Texas has three laws that you should probably know about. The first which will no doubt impact you on some level is that you don't need a vehicle inspection anymore. Don't get this confused with any savings, you'll still be paying annual fees, you just don't have to go to the expense of making sure your car is in working order. The downside is, the other drivers don't have to make sure their cars are in working order, or that they have insurance.
Protect Your Texas Home
Next on the list, is property tax relief, kind of. First off, if you have homesteaded you house, then this doesn't even apply to you. What this does is limit the amount of property taxes that can be put on the assigned value of your home. This is good, but you really should homestead your house for extra protection.
Your Online Identity in Texas
The third law, is really more of a tool for lawmakers/the Texas Attorney General to punish those who might put your digital information at risk. It actually calls for "digital privacy rights" for Texans. It's hard to find fault with the law, then again, most people know the risks when they give their information to a social media platform or at any other digital entry point.
Action Items in Texas
So there you go. You are now up to speed. Going forward remember to 1. Not inspect your car. 2. Homestead your house. 3. Contact the Texas Attorney General is you suspect someone is misusing your digital information.
