If you came into over a million dollars, what would you do with it?

Most people would spend it on items of real value- like a house, car, or investments. Or even something of perceived value- like designer clothing.

Now imagine you got that million dollars by risking it all and betraying people who trusted you. That's what Staci Blackmon did. And then she wasted nearly all of it.

Blackmon pleaded guilty and was convicted of stealing money from her recently deceased boss' bank account and using the company's credit card fraudulently. She spent most of the money purchasing TikTok coins.

TikTok coins are used on the app to send creators gifts or to promote your own content.

Apparently Blackmon was using the coins to tip other creators in hopes it would help build her own following. Only 44% of the value of the coins goes to creators, TikTok keeps the rest.

If that wasn't bad enough, Blackmon "helped" the heir to her boss' life savings by finding his accounts, all while she was heavily dipping out of them.

Sadly, because she wasted the money on Tiktok and other frivolous things, almost nothing can be reclaimed or sold to provide restitution to her victim, which can be ordered by a judge in Texas for embezzlement cases.

Blackmon was sentenced to two 35-year sentences on two theft charges, however, they are concurrent sentences meaning that she will only be in prison for up to 35 years. She could feasibly get out much earlier with good behavior and a favorable parole board.
