The United Family Now Offering Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccine to Kids 12 and Older
After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine could now be administered to everyone 12 years old and up, the United Family, which includes United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos, announced they will offer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine at all locations with a store pharmacy.
Pfizer said it noticed that their vaccine seems to be as effective for 12 to 15 year olds as it has been in older teenagers and adults, so the company's vaccine specifically is being offered for children in that age group. Pfizer will continue monitoring trial participants to assess the vaccine's long-term safety.
Guests will still have the option for which vaccine they would like to receive, such as the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The company's online scheduler can be used to book an appointment, or those interested in getting the vaccine can call a local United Family pharmacy to book an appointment over the phone or locate a specific vaccine in the area. Starting Sunday, May 16th, guests will be able to see what type of vaccine they will be receiving. Until that time comes, however, guests can only ask the pharmacist at their preferred store about availability. For more questions, call the Pharmacy Help Desk at 866-277-2843.
