The Weird Gala Invites Lubbock To Wear Their Most Creative & Outlandish Looks
If you're like me, you've seen photos of the wild and wonderfully editorial looks that celebrities don for the annual Met Gala and have been green with envy. I've always wanted an excuse to wear something weird, head-turning, and ultimately, beautiful. But where in the heck would you do that in Lubbock, Texas? If you want the same thing, I've got the perfect event for you.
The Weird Gala will have its inaugural event Friday, September 29th from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at CASP 5th & J Gallery (1106 5th street )- and participants are encouraged to "dress in your Met Gala extravagant best." Without a set theme to limit you, your only limit is your imagination. I hope to see an array of colors, textures, and styles. And a few headdresses, too.
The Weird Gala is more than just a place to gather in your finest, the event will also have live painting, a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, and live performers. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Weird Space, an interactive and permanent art exhibit akin to the world-famous Meow Wolf that began in Santa Fe, which now has several locations across Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and New Mexico.
This new business will be a permanent art installation as well as feature local artist merch, The Little Crow’s Market art vending machine, an artist workspace with ready-to-make kits, and small rentable artists studios.
Tickets are available now with a limited number of VIP and sponsorship packages available.
I can't wait to see how creative Lubbock gets at The Weird Gala. Seriously, I want to see you lean into it.
