Fun fact: Back in 1930, there was a beautification project in Texas, and the Texas Highway Department played a massive role in promoting our favorite blue flowers by planting them along the highways.

You can thank them each time you pull over on a road trip for a family photo in the flowers, a classic among Texans.

Is It Illegal to Pick Bluebonnets in Texas?

For the longest time, I thought it was illegal to pick bluebonnets. I avoided it for years, on the off chance a cop happened to come out of nowhere and give me a stern talking to.

Turns out, it isn't illegal at all.

There aren't any laws in Texas that prohibit you from picking bluebonnets, so if you've been restraining yourself, feel free to let loose and pick those bad boys!
