Texas Tech baseball has won 13 of their last 14 contests after sweeping the Rice Owls over the weekend. There were several stars for Texas Tech, with Parker Kelly continuing his torrid streak at the plate, Hudson White enjoying a breakout game, and several other Red Raiders getting key hits across the three-game set in Houston.

Texas Tech won the three games by the scores of 10-1, 3-2, and 7-4, but most of the drama from the series started in Saturday's series clincher. Most of the highlights from the game came from Brandon Birdsell, who struck out 15 batters in six innings of work, giving up zero hits or walks.

Brendan Girton relieved Birdsell and gave up two runs, before being pulled in favor of Derek Bridges, then yielding to Trendan Parish who entered the game in the eighth inning to get the final out with the game tied at 2.

In the top of the 9th inning, Kurt Wilson singled and was brought home by a Parker Kelly RBI double. Then, Parish returned to ice the game by striking out the game's final two Owls batters.

The Parish celebration after the game, which was epic, was not taken well by the Rice team who wanted to go after the Red Raiders following the loss. Tim Tadlock wasn't having any of that and he had some... words...with Rice Manager Jose Cruz, Jr.

I can't say for certain, but it was relayed to me that the Rice Owls were also peeved at the disparity between Texas Tech fans and Owls fans at the "home" series for Rice in Houston. You can hear the "Raider! Power!" chants rain down as the two managers attempt to settle their differences before the entire roster from both teams get involved.
