Lubbock police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday morning (Sept. 27) in the 4900 block of Belmont Drive.

KAMC News reports that officers responded at about 2 a.m. after one officer heard gunshots and found one person with a gunshot wound to the head.

That person was taken to the hospital with a life-threatening injury but their current condition is unknown. Police have not identified the victim or said how the shooting occurred.

The officer who heard the shooting says he saw suspects running from the scene of the shooting near 49th and Chicago, but it's not yet known how many or what they might look like.
