Believe it or not, parts of the Texas Panhandle may get snow this week.

I thought it was pretty wild when we got a little flurry 2 weeks ago. Snow in the middle of April? Not exactly expected for Texas in late April, but neither was Katy Perry going to space.

2025 has a mind of its own...

A cold front is heading to the Lone Star State this week, and forecasters say the Northwest Panhandle, including the Dalhart area, could see a little white. Showers and thunderstorms are almost definitely on the radar from Friday until early Sunday morning. So, that cold front might throw snow into the mix.

This won't be the latest snow on record in Texas, either.

Shockingly, in early May of 1917, 9.1 inches of snow dumped on Amarillo.

I don't think most Texans mind a little snow late in the season. We have such brutal summers, we've gotta grab up the cool while we can.

I, for one, am not at all excited for the coming weeks of 100+ degree days. I wish the snow was headed toward Lubbock right now instead. Maybe it's a good time to make a trip to Amarillo, grab up a cute Airbnb, and enjoy the winter weather by the fire while you still can!
