Do you have a sign posted on your fence or in a window that warns people about the dogs on your property? You might want to take it down or replace it with another kind of sign. If your dog happens to bite someone, and it can be proven that you know your dog is aggressive, you can get into major legal trouble in Texas.

TikTok user @texaschancla, Jesse Hernandez, a criminal defense and personal injury lawyer, posted a video warning people in Texas to not post signs like this.

Here's what he had to say:

"Never put up a sign that says "Beware of Dog". It will be used in Exhibit 1 at the trial to prove that you are liable for someone's injuries. In the state of Texas, someone who has been bitten by a dog must prove that you knew that your dog was dangerous or aggressive, and you putting up that sign is the first way they are going to do that. Instead, if you want to notify people that there are dogs on your premises, then put up a sign that says "Dogs Present On Property".

It might be a good time to replace your sign with something else. Be sure to share this article with your friends and family that have dogs. It could definitely come in handy.
