The Future

I was watching some video overseas and I saw bike cops giving out tickets. It looked really weird because they'd type some stuff out on thier phone, then a device on their hip would print out something that looked like a long drug-store receipt, which of course turned out to be a ticket. I thought it was pretty impressive and technologically advanced.

It's Here

Well, now it's your turn to be impressed. The Lubbock Police Department has announced that they'll start using a similar system beginning on Saturday. Yes, as of February 1st you dirty lawbreakers can see how the ticket process of the future looks. Apparently with the L.P.D. system it prints out in their car, but the end result is the same. You also need to know that they'll scan your drivers license, your registration, and take a picture of you.

Warning

So, a word of warning. What do you like to do with your new toys? Do you like to keep them put up and play with them at some future date, or do you like to get them out and have a lot of fun with them? .  Oh, and not only is this a new toy, it should make giving a ticket even easier! I can't really blame L.P.D. for staying up to speed on technology and if you don't want to see it in use, don't break the law.

Check Yourself!

I've had to gut-check myself when it comes to having a lead foot. This town is too small to even need to speed, because you're going to be thier in about ten minutes anyways.  This is very much an appropriate use of technology, let's just hope it doesn't get used on you!
