What Happened To Isaac Leal: A Cautionary Tale
ARLINGTON, Texas - 17-year-old Isaac Leal is on life support after playing "Senior Assassin", a popular game among high school seniors that involves the use of water guns and an app that tells you the location of other players.
What happened?
Leal was playing the seemingly harmless game with his friends when he jumped up on the back of a Jeep that made several turns in an Arlington neighborhood before driving over a dip. At that point, Leal was ejected. He landed on the pavement and sustained a head injury.
A video shared on YouTube by CBS Texas explains some dangers of the game:
Leal's family is holding onto hope that he will make a full recovery. They are also doing their best to warn other parents about the dangers of playing Senior Assassin, which has essentially become the unofficial favorite game among high school seniors across the country.
The principal of South Grand Prairie High, where Leal attended school, has also issued a warning to students that engaging in the game on or near school grounds could result in disciplinary action.
Note from the author:
I don't remember playing Senior Assassin in school, but I do remember my friends and me stopping at red lights, jumping out of the car, running around it, and getting back in, right in the middle of traffic. It was SO dangerous, but we never gave it a second thought. It was fun, and everyone else was doing it. We were very lucky we didn't get injured.
Please stay safe out there, and remind your kids to stay safe, especially if they are playing games like Senior Assassin.
