Yes, Really!

The first thing that may cross a lot of people's minds is, "are they serious?" Yep! Blue Bell isn't afraid of doing things differently, and they've turned the holiday season's most popular drink into a delectable dessert.

So What Does It Taste Like?

Blue Bell describes the new flavor as, "a delicious eggnog flavored French ice cream with flecks of nutmeg and a whipped topping swirl."

“Many people compare eggnog to ice cream because of its creamy texture,” said Jimmy Lawhorn, vice president, sales and marketing for Blue Bell. “Our ice cream captures the flavor of eggnog perfectly. Your first spoonful is sweet, then you immediately taste a hint of nutmeg. Eggnog is a very popular drink during the Christmas season, but we think our new ice cream could very well take its place.”

Limited Time Only

This new flavor will disappear from shelves just as fast as it arrived. Eggnog ice cream is available in the half gallon size for a limited time, along with two other holiday inspired flavors, Christmas Cookies ice cream and Peppermint ice cream.

Christmas Cookies combines all your favorite holiday cookies such as chocolate chip, snickerdoodle and sugar cookies in a tasty sugar cookie ice cream with red sprinkles and a green icing swirl throughout.

Peppermint is a cool, refreshing peppermint ice cream sprinkled with peppermint candy pieces.

“We hope Blue Bell will be a part of your gatherings this holiday season,” Lawhorn said. “We have a great selection of flavors that should please anyone’s ice cream craving.”

Fun Facts

If you think Blue Bell is taking it over the top, you'd be wrong. In fact, December is actually national eggnog month according to the Egg Safety Center.

Eggnog even has its own day here in America, and it falls on Christmas Eve (December 24), reports National Today.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
