Humans aren't the only ones dressing up for Halloween this year. The Maxey Community Center is hosting the 13th Annual Howl-o-ween costume contest for dogs on Saturday, October 13.

Find a great Halloween costume for you dog and enter for a chance to win prizes. According to the City of Lubbock, judges will award prizes for different themed costume categories. Registration  begins at 10:00 a.m. and the judging begins at 10:30 on Saturday morning. It will cost $1 per dog to enter or a donation of a dog toy.

Be sure to keep your dogs on a leash during the event and make sure your pet is up to date on vaccinations. The event will take place in Maxey Park on the volleyball courts north of the Maxey Community Center at 30th and Oxford. If it does rain, which the current forecast does call for, the event will be moved inside.

During the event, the City of Lubbock Animal Services will be providing free microchips for dogs.
