Blue Bell Makes It a Trifecta With New Oatmeal Cream Pie

We just got a taste of the new Blue Bell ice cream flavor and you probably never expected me to have something negative to say about Blue Bell. Well, here goes.

Blue Bell is making a serious mistake if they don't either keep this flavor around or relaunch it in the fall. Yes, Oatmeal Cream Pie is that good.

We all know who makes the most famous oatmeal cream pies around here, so we need to compare the ice cream to that. First off, the flavor's official description goes like this:

A delicious oatmeal flavored ice cream with hints of brown sugar mixed with soft oatmeal cookies and a vanilla icing swirl.

This brings us back to the initial question, which is how does it compare to those famous vending machine snacks. The answer is, it does them one better. The Blue Bell Oatmeal Cream Pie actually lets that brown sugar taste come through just a touch more than the cookies.

Back to my initial assertion. With that oatmeal, creme and brown sugar taste, I immediately thought, "I gotta try some of this on some pie." A big scoop of this on a piece of apple, pumpkin or pecan pie would absolutely send you to flavor nirvana.

Let me go one further. We're big Kaluha fans in my house and I think a big ol' tablespoon of this in some Kaluha or iced coffee would absolutely be legendary.

Don't get me wrong, this flavor is amazing all by itself, but it just begs to be paired with some other great tastes.

So yes, that makes it a 5-star trifecta for Blue Bell. First, there was Chocolate Peanut Butter Overload, then the incredibly refreshing Strawberry Lemonade, and now Oatmeal Cream Pie. Yes, good things happened in the summer of '22.
