Lubbock’s Buddy Holly Statue Reminds You to Be Hypervigilant During Coronavirus Pandemic [Photos]
The Buddy Holly statue in Lubbock, Texas is a beloved local landmark. It's a reminder of the musician's immeasurable impact on music.
But during a global pandemic, even the Buddy Holly statue wants you to stand six feet away.
I snapped these pictures of the statue wearing a surgical mask this week. Don't worry, I was practicing social distancing (as should y'all) and stood a few feet away.
The coronavirus currently has many "nonessential businesses" in Lubbock closed until as early as April 3rd due to Mayor Dan Pope's recent Declaration of Disaster. The City of Lubbock is also urging citizens to practice social distancing and good hygiene to flatten the curve.
As of March 26th, there were 23 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Lubbock County.
