This is a formal request from the citizens of Lubbock, who will be overheated and cranky all summer long since there isn't a single pool open for public use:

We are BEGGING someone out there with a few extra bucks to please build a public pool.

Not a fancy country club pool. Not an "exclusive luxury aquatic experience."

Not something that requires memberships and a wait list at the bar for Pina Coladas.

Just a normal, simple, public pool for the kiddos.

Somehow, in 2026, that doesn't exist in a town of nearly 300,000 residents. So, what gives?

Lubbock Needs Your Help

I know you may not feel like it's your responsibility, and you're right. It isn't. But I know more than a few of you out there could build a public pool without breaking so much as a sweat when it comes to crunching the numbers in your account.

We Are Suffering

Meanwhile, every summer in Lubbock, it feels like the sun has moved a few feet closer to Earth. People are friggin' cooking in their cars like little Hot Pockets. Kids are turning sprinklers into water parks. Adults are spending far too much time standing in the beer coolers at Circle K, without even buying beer...

It feels wrong.

Be The Hero

We aren't asking for Vegas. We are just asking for a public pool for kids to laugh and play in that doesn't involve hopping a fence and praying security cameras don't catch you.

Signed,

Pretty Much Everyone
