On Wednesday, January 20th, 2021, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the Texas Division of Emergency Management had established a new COVID-19 therapeutic infusion center in Lubbock.

It's said that the infusion center will begin taking patients on Thursday, January 21st.

The center has been provided with Regeneron's monoclonal antibodies and Bamlanivimab to treat outpatient cases of COVID-19 who meet certain criteria and have referral from a hospital or doctor.

This infusion center has been established through a partnership with TDEM, the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Covenant Health System and UMC Health System.

Infusion therapy is recommended for patients who are unable to be treated effectively using oral medication, providing fluid medication directly into the vein.

"Thank you to our partners from the City of Lubbock, Lubbock County, Covenant Health System, and UMC Health System for working with TDEM to launch this new infusion center," said Governor Abbott.

Previous infusion centers have already been established in El Paso, Laredo, Harlingen, Austin, Fort Worth, Irving and many other locates to help those communities combat COVID-19 and reduce the amount of COVID-19 related hospitalizations.

This announcement comes as the City of Lubbock Health Department had just started announcing the scheduling of appointments for those needing their second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
