What’s Worse Than Losing? Being Boring While Doing It

As a longtime fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, I still remember the electric days of Mike Leach and Kliff Kingsbury. Those teams may not have always won big, but they were never dull. If nothing else, Tech football guaranteed a show.

Unfortunately, that same spark seems to be missing from the Dallas Cowboys heading into the 2025 NFL season.

USA Today recently released its list of the most and least entertaining NFL teams for the upcoming season. The Cowboys came in at a lukewarm #19 out of 32 teams—a tough pill to swallow for fans used to "America's Team" being in the spotlight.

The Cowboys May Not Have What It Takes In 2025

So what makes a team entertaining? According to USA Today, it's a mix of explosive playmakers, high-energy offenses, and the ability to pull off big plays. The Cowboys, it seems, didn’t check many of those boxes.

Dallas is expected to lean on a grind-it-out, conservative offense, with little in the way of surprises or game-breaking moments. That kind of football can work—but only if it comes with a steady stream of wins. Otherwise, it’s just plain boring.

Sure, Cowboys fans are loyal to the core. The team’s fanbase shows up every season decked out in silver and blue, ready for battle. But wouldn’t things be a little more fun if someone like Kliff Kingsbury—rumored to be in the coaching conversation—had actually been hired?

USA Today previously predicted a 9-8 season for Dallas. With few major changes heading into 2025 and the same leadership at the helm, it's understandable why excitement feels a little hard to come by.

Encounters with Texas insects can be magical (think flights of Monarch butterflies!), but mostly they tend to be neutral or negative. Should you really worry about creepy crawlies in Texas? These are the insects and arachnids you probably should be aware of, as they all could prove potentially fatal (although that outcome is very rare).
