Delicioso! South Lubbock Now Has A New Local Mexican Cuisine Option
Lubbock has quite a few choices for Mexican and Tex-Mex style food, but certain parts of town are left hungry for more. I live in South Lubbock because it makes for a convenient commute to work, but I usually find myself traveling longer to find the Mexican food I crave.
But there's good news for me and plenty of others like me- as of today (12/15/2023) South Lubbock now has a new local Mexican option. Mi Tierra Taqueria is celebrating its grand opening at 5217 98th Street, in the same shopping center as Nothing Bundt Cakes. The restaurant will feature the usual Mexican fare like tacos, burritos, and nachos, and also more on-trend options like Birria Quesadillas. Yum!
The meat choices are extensive- from carnitas and carne asada to suadero and tripa and more, so you can personalize your tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and tortas to your taste, and maybe even try something new.
Mi Tierra Taqueria also offers breakfast options from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., according to the menu online.
2023 has seen a massive amount of restaurant closures, but it feels like our culinary scene is a multi-headed hydra- every time one place is "cut off" two places pop up to fill the gap. It takes an extreme amount of hard work, grit, and courage to open a local eatery here, and I wish this restaurant the absolute best. I feel optimistic for them because they are offering exciting options in an area of town that could use more of that particular type. In addition to the aforementioned meat variety, Mi Tierra Taqueria is offering Aqua Frescas, Mexican soft drinks, desserts, and a kids menu that will help set them apart.
Best of luck Mi Tierra Taqueria, I'll be seeing you soon.
