One of the most legendary concerts in Lubbock history was an Off-Fest date.

"Off-fest" (and there were various ones) was basically all of the bands from Ozzfest, except for Ozzy. What was crazy about the year we branded it "The FMX Firecracker Five" was that it didn't feel like it was missing Ozzy. The rock was simply so good that Ozzy wasn't needed.

The lineup was Slipknot, Papa Roach, Disturbed, Linkin Park and Mudvayne (back when they wore makeup). It was an amazing show top to bottom, with each band trying to outplay the rest. I still remember the guys from Linkin Park getting off stage and heading directly into the audience to sign autographs.

Even though they were nice enough to let us brand it "The FMX Firecracker Five," they still sold Off-Fest merchandise. That's where the concert moment below comes in.
