I'm getting pretty sick of these 98-degree days.

I've been dreaming about a cold day in Lubbock for months now.

I know they are coming.

When that glorious first cold day finally comes, there are some extremely important things that all of us, and I mean ALL of us, need to do:

1. Rejoice.

God has finally noticed that you've been sweating through your hoodies for weeks. The suffering has finally come to a close.

For now...

2. Wear a hoodie.

You may want to wash it first...

If you're anything like me, you've already jumped the gun...and it's been sweaty out there.

I've been posting a Lubbock Hoodie Report daily to let people know whether or not today is the day to bust them out.

It hasn't happened yet, but I know it's coming.

3. Thank your friends and family.

They've been pretending not to notice your sweaty, funky aura while you've refused to take your hoodies off in the heat for several weeks now, and they deserve some big props.

4. Get a pumpkin spice something.

Candle.

Drink.

Dog treat.

Whatever.

Get at least something pumpkin spicey.

5. Get a pumpkin.

Pick one out that is a totally unreasonable size or shape, struggle to get it in the trunk of your car, and then leave it to rot on your porch for 3 months.

It's tradition.

6. Turn on the fireplace.

It will probably be 78 degrees again tomorrow, but get that bad boy up and running.

It'll really get you into the swing of things.

Unless there's a bird in there...

In that case, repeat step #4 and grab some pumpkin spice air freshener to lighten the air... and the mood after the crime you just committed in front of your children.

RIP, Bird.

(This actually happened to me as a child, if you ever wondered WTF was wrong with me.)

7. Make something warm.

Chicken and dumplings are my favorite.

Chili might be yours.

As long as you eat it wrapped in a blanket, it's officially a fall food.

8. Take a deep breath, relax, and do absolutely nothing.

You just made it through one of the hottest summers we have ever had, and you deserve a break.

Soak up the Netflix in your favorite cozy jammies and pat yourself on the back.

Well done.
