So, you're walking through a Lubbock parking lot when you suddenly stumble upon a lost wallet.

Congratulations. You've just been handed someone else's ENTIRE life.

Inside, there's likely a driver's license, a debit card, and, if they are anything like me, approximately 42 loyalty membership cards from random restaurants and coffee shops.

So, what are you actually supposed to do with it?

What To Do If You Find A Wallet In Lubbock

First, don't take anything out of the wallet.

I know. It's tempting. We are all poor as hell in 2026. But just DON'T.

Your grandma is looking down on you from heaven and would be pissed.

Do NOT dig through the wallet, dude.

If you found the wallet in a business parking lot, go back inside and turn it in to the store manager. There is a great chance the person who lost it will be retracing their steps back to that store as soon as they realize it's missing.

If you find it somewhere else and don't have that option, the Lubbock Police Department has your back. Their headquarters is located at 1205 15th Street. Drop by and hand the wallet over to them.

You never know when you'll need extra brownie points with the cops. This is a pretty good way to get them.

Once Again, Don't Mess With Their Stuff!

This should go without saying, but don't even think about trying to use someone's credit card. It will come back to bite you! Keep your dead granny in mind, and fork over that wallet containing all of someone's sensitive personal information to the police.

You might be able to find the person on Facebook with their ID, but then again, there are a million John Smiths and Karen Johnsons out there. I still think your best bet is the cops. You also don't want to post a photo of someone's DL online.

The moral of the story?

Don't treat someone else's wallet like a free prize.

Leave everything intact.

Turn it in.

Be a pal and help someone avoid the absolute nightmare of replacing everything in their wallet! Make granny proud!
