The internet is full of trolls, I get it.

I was quite taken aback when my favorite rock/heavy metal website/program Loudwire had to call people out for "rooting for the fire" in California. I guess it says more about those people then it does the group at large, but I remember when rock and metal were a brotherhood that stuck together, picked people up when they fell in moshpits, and generally looked out for each other.

I guess there are several things at play here. As for my state, Texas, there has always been a juvenile high-school rivalry type thing going on with California (it's been one-way, California doesn't worry much about Texas). Then you have the "Hollywood Liberals" who express themselves. Finally, I think it's plain ignorance on the part of people my country father-in-law used to say, "never been nowhere and don't know nuthin'".

There are nearly 39 million people in California and most are just doing their thing. They actually come from all over, and represent a huge array of political groups, regions, ethnicities, and just about anything else you can think of. California probably represents the "melting pot" philosophy of the U.S.A. probably better than any state, except maybe New York.

This hate for California actually starts at the top in my state and it's disgusting. Still there have been scores of instances of the Texas government throwing stones out of jealousy or to try to make themselves look smarter. It doesn't work. Again, this kind of thing makes you sound like a rube, or a little chihuahua nipping at the heels of a big dog for attention.

I'm aware the people who need to read this, probably won't, but I had to write it. People's houses are on fire and firemen are risking their lives. I have never heard Californians laugh at other states when they're hit with tornados, hurricanes, or other natural disasters. It's time for people in general to grow the "f" up and have a little sympathy for living, breathing humans who have lost everything.
