Beer drinkers are Texas Proud today!  It turns out -  the Lone Star State had very strong showing at the Great American Beer Fest this past weekend in Denver, Colorado.

According to the Festivals website, San Antonio brewer Second Pitch Brew Company took the gold in the American Amber Lager category. Their beer called "Hometown Lager" was the big winner.

According to Second Pitch - Hometown Lager is...

"A rich and malty beer in the California Common style. They use the best Rahr 2-Row malt and Munich malt for a great malt back bone and finish it off with a nice hopping of Willamette hops."

San Antonio also had Gold Medal for Longtab Brewing that picked up their award for their American-Belgo-style Ale called DOL.

Houston also had a very good weekend as three H-town brewers medaled. Axios Houston reported...

"Saint Arnold Brewing won two gold medals: one for its Elissa IPA in the English ale category and another for its Fancy Lawnmower in the golden or blonde ale category.

True Anomaly Brewing won gold in the contemporary American-style lager category for its Scout beer and silver for its Sea of Waves sour.
Karbach Brewing also won gold for its nonalcoholic Free and Easy Belgian-Style White."

Saint Arnold also took home the prize as Brewer of the Year for the 15,001–100,000 Barrels Brewery category.

Austin won gold medals for Lazarus Brewing's "Crazy Horse" and "Prodigal Pils."

Other Texas cities with wins include Blanco, Rowlett, and Dripping Springs.  The Dripping Springs brewery, Family Business Beer Company, won the gold for best "Chili" beer for their "Chili's From The Grave," selection.
