A man in Lubbock, Texas, was recently arrested after he not only stalked his ex-girlfriend, but also demanded that she pay him money unless she wants explicit photos of herself leaked online.
The Lubbock Man Who Stalked His Way to Jail
21-year-old Kaleb De La Garza already had a criminal trespass warning placed on him after attempting to force his way into his ex-girlfriend's apartment. This, of course, was before he sent many messages to her phone, forcing her to file a Title IX complaint with Texas Tech University.
For those wondering, Title IX is a part of federal and state laws that regulates sex-based discrimination. As a result, De La Garza was forced to refrain from stepping foot onto campus, and he had to take his classes remotely.
Lubbock Stalker Had Complaint Removed
This was all well and good, until De La Garza convinced his ex to remove the Title IX complaint. In exchange, he would delete her nudes that he had saved on his phone.
This didn't last, however, as Everything Lubbock states De La Garza later told her that he actually did NOT delete the photos, and he threatened to post them online unless she gave him money.
De La Garza, who lives in San Antonio, began driving to Lubbock in order to meet with his ex and collect the ransom money. Before he arrived, the victim told officers that she didn't feel comfortable staying at her apartment, so she decided to stay with a friend instead.
When De La Garza arrived in Lubbock and noticed that her car wasn't there, he went looking, eventually locating her at her friend's apartment. He then allegedly parked right next to her car, and any time she attempted to exit the apartment, he would try to corner her.
