
Hordes of Tarantulas Set To Invade Texas Soon, Here’s Why
Soon, residents throughout Texas will start seeing more spiders. In fact, they will have large, hairy spiders.
It's late summer, and fall is around the corner, and according to reports, tarantulas are about to start invading the Lone Star State. But Texas isn't the only state that will see tens of thousands of spiders, and experts say you shouldn't be freaked out by the increase in tarantulas. Unless you hate spiders, and this article probably bothers you, which means you probably will freak out no matter what.
Hordes of Tarantulas in Texas
According to NBCDFW, this late summer into early fall is mating season for tarantulas, and that means tens of thousands of male tarantulas will be coming out of their burrowed holes to find a mate. Reports say that tarantulas like to stay in their holes, but from late July through September, they like to come out of their holes in mass numbers.

Once they have mated, female tarantulas can lay up to 1,000 eggs that will hatch before the end of summer meaning more tarantulas.
According to NBC, there are 14 species of tarantulas in Texas. Texas brown tarantulas can grow to a leg span of up to five inches.
What Should You Do If You See a Tarantula?
In short, leave it alone. They are generally harmless, though they could bite if handled or if they feel threatened. While they are venomous, their bite has been compared to a wasp sting, which could cause a mild allergic reaction. But most of the time, tarantulas will run away from you and your pets. Though they have been known to jump up to 2 feet.
Tarantulas typically come out in the late evening. It's unlikely that you'll come across one during the day. But if you do, just let them go. They won't bother you and they eat insects and stuff that do bother us.
