It's almost that time again! The schedule for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been revealed and with two Texas cities hosting matches, they're going to need a lot of volunteers.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will see 104 games featuring 48 teams played across 16 host cities in three countries: Canada, Mexico and the United States. Starting June 11, 2026, the World Cup kicks off in Mexico and will soon make its way through the United States with the U.S. opening match taking place in Los Angeles.

What Texas Cities Will Be Hosting FIFA World Cup 2026 Matches?

Dallas and Houston will be hosting FIFA World Cup 2026 matches. At the Dallas Stadium and Houston Stadium- which is how they will be referred to as FIFA prohibits corporate sponsor titles. Dallas stadium is obviously AT&T Stadium and Houston Stadium is NRG Stadium.

Dream of the World Cup? Texas Wants You on the Team

If you’ve ever yelled at the TV thinking you could’ve done better, here’s your shot, well, kind of. FIFA is officially taking applications for volunteers at the 2026 World Cup in North Texas. Nine matches are coming to Dallas, with more than 700,000 tickets up for grabs, and the economic impact is expected to hit a mind-boggling $1.5 to $2.1 billion. That’s not just soccer, that’s cha-ching for North Texas.

To pull it off, FIFA needs more than 6,000 volunteers. The catch? You’ve got to be at least 18, speak English, and commit to a minimum of eight shifts, each one between six and eight hours. (Think of it as soccer boot camp, minus the cardio.)

World Cup Co-Chair Dan Hunt says volunteering is an unforgettable experience. He should know, back in ’94, he was a ball kid at the Spain vs. South Korea match. Not a bad gig for a teenager.

To sign up, you’ll need to apply through FIFA, attend an in-person tryout or group recruitment event, pass a background check, and complete training. Volunteer selections will be made between December and March.

Aside from bragging rights, the World Cup is expected to create thousands of jobs and pump serious money into local businesses. As Co-Chair Nina Vaca puts it, this is “an incredible opportunity to grow our businesses and leave that economic footprint all over North Texas.”
