Jazz A Louisiana Kitchen (3703 19th Street) is iconic in Lubbock.

If you've never indulged on their Shrimp Etoufee, a very boozy Hurricane or Blackened Chicken Diane, you are seriously missing out. I've eaten on the French Quarter in New Orleans, and Jazz is just as good, if not better. (The drinks certainly are!)

Part of what made Jazz look like Jazz was their iconic wall dollars, which were accumulated over many years of business. They contained people's names, sororities / fraternities, or just messages to laissez le bon temps rouler (that means 'let the good times roll' for all you non-southerners).

Jazz recently revealed on their Facebook page that they would be removing the wall dollars to donate to their employees. The video (watch it below) is emotional and very, very sweet. I think this act of kindness is really amazing. And right now (as of May 5th, 2020), they are also running a contest to guess the number of dollars that were stapled to the building. Winners will receive hefty Jazz gift cards.

Jazz A Louisiana Kitchen is open for takeout and delivery during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Seriously, do yourself a favor and indulge in their authentic Louisiana cuisine.
