Lubbock Breaks Long-Standing Temperature Record on Monday
In what could be a predictor for a really hot summer, Lubbock on Monday broke the record high temperature that was previously set for March 28th.
A high temperature of 94 degrees recorded Monday afternoon at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport beat the previous high set for the date of March 28th back in 1963. The previous record-high for March 28th was 90 degrees.
However, the record-breaking heat will go away on Tuesday. Highs across the region will be in the low to mid-80s, but there will be blowing dust and a Wind Advisory in effect. The rest of the week looks like spring with the next warm-up starting early next week.
Meanwhile, the lack of rain across Lubbock and the South Plains is continuing to worsen the drought conditions across the region.
