Texas Car Crashes Into Buildings: Why Lubbock Isn’t Alone in This Strange Trend
I know it seems like Lubbock people crash their cars into buildings a lot, but at least we can say we aren't alone in making these "oopsie daisies."

Why Are Cars Crashing Into Buildings Across Texas?

Most of the time, it's human error, particularly distracted driving. In other words, put the dang phone down.
It can also be caused by alcohol, high speed (which leads to loss of control), inexperienced drivers, and tired drivers. Of course, I have nothing but sympathy for the person if it was the result of a medical emergency.

The driver is always ultimately at fault (the building never moves into them), but sometimes it's not entirely the driver to blame. Poor weather conditions, bad roads, or poorly planned infrastructure can also cause vehicles to crash into buildings.
What Lubbock Businesses Can Do to Protect Their Storefronts
If possible, Lubbock businesses should install bollards or other heavy, large crash deterrents. Target has those large, red concrete balls, for example. Reinforced curbs can also help.
If possible, a business or shopping center could also design/ redesign its parking lot to help avoid crashes into buildings.
Note: Any new construction on a business may require a permit.
Again, the best way to prevent this from happening is by being a responsible, alert, and sober driver.
